Conclusions: Recruitment in general practice settings can be successfully achieved through multiple recruitment strategies, effective communication and rapport building, ensuring research topic and design suit general practice needs, and using familiar communication strategies to engage patients. Trial registration: The trial was prospectively registered on 29 April 2015 with the Australian New Zealand Clinical Trial Registry www.anzctr.org.au (trial ID: ACTRN12615000401550).]]> Wed 15 Dec 2021 14:32:30 AEDT ]]> Ageing in general practice (AGP) trial: a cluster randomised trial to examine the effectiveness of peer education on GP diagnostic assessment and management of dementia https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:15187 Wed 11 Apr 2018 15:11:57 AEST ]]> Global, regional, and national incidence, prevalence, and years lived with disability for 310 diseases and injuries, 1990–2015: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2015 https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:28317 Wed 11 Apr 2018 12:08:45 AEST ]]> Global, regional, and national burden of Alzheimer's disease and other dementias, 1990-2016: a systematic analysis for the global burden of disease study 2016 https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:42491 Tue 14 May 2024 10:01:10 AEST ]]> Healthcare Access and Quality Index based on mortality from causes amenable to personal health care in 195 countries and territories, 1990-2015: a novel analysis from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2015 https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:32250 Thu 13 Jan 2022 10:31:22 AEDT ]]> Clinical practice guidelines and principles of care for people with dementia in Australia https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:25737 Clinical practice guidelines and principles of care for people with dementia (Guidelines) was recently approved by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC). Objective: This article describes the recommendations within the Guidelines that are of greatest relevance to GPs, including those addressing diagnosis, living well, managing behavioural and psychological symptoms, supporting carers, and the palliative approach. Discussion: The Guidelines synthesise current evidence in dementia care and emphasise: timely diagnosis; encouraging the person with dementia to exercise, eat well and keep doing as much for themselves as possible; supporting and training carers to provide care; and reducing prescription of potentially harmful medications where possible.]]> Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:30:43 AEDT ]]> Diagnosis and disclosure of a memory problem is associated with quality of life in community based older Australians with dementia https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:22233 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:17:38 AEDT ]]> Global, regional, and national comparative risk assessment of 79 behavioural, environmental and occupational, and metabolic risks or clusters of risks in 188 countries, 1990-2013: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2013 https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:22679 Sat 24 Mar 2018 07:12:09 AEDT ]]> Health-related quality of life in people with advanced dementia: a comparison of EQ-5D-5L and QUALID instruments https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:42248 r = − 0.437; p < 0.001 at 12 months). Changes within QUALID and EQ-5D-5L across the same follow-up periods were also correlated (r = − 0.266; p = 0.005). The regression analyses support these findings. Conclusion: Whilst these quality of life instruments demonstrated moderate correlation, the EQ-5D-5L does not appear to capture all aspects of quality of life that are relevant to people with advanced dementia and we cannot recommend the use of this instrument for use within this population. The QUALID appears to be a more suitable instrument for measuring HRQOL in people with severe dementia, but is not preference-based, which limits its application in economic evaluations of dementia care.]]> Fri 19 Aug 2022 12:03:27 AEST ]]> Global, regional, and national comparative risk assessment of 79 behavioural, environmental and occupational, and metabolic risks or clusters of risks, 1990–2015: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2015 https://ogma.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:28315 Fri 06 Oct 2023 16:24:33 AEDT ]]>
